VISION 2020 the right to sight aims at eliminating avoidable blindness by the year 2020. Attainment of this aim implies the development of a sustainable comprehensive health-care system to ensure best possible vision for all people and thereby improve quality of life.

The Tema General Hospital Eye Clinic exists to promote good eye health care and prevent avoidable blindness.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EYE DEPRTMENT

To treat all eye cases attending our clinic {medically and surgically}
To attend promptly to all emergency eye cases in the hospital.
To have outreach programmes to communicate in and around the municipality.
To start surgical outreach programmes to communities in the municipality.
To participate fully in school health programme.
To screen the eyes of workers in Tema.
To educate the public on various eyes disease and prevention {C-F shows our commitment to PEC}
To hold in-service training on eye disease for Doctors/Nurse.
To co-ordinate activities of all eye care work in the municipality.
To encourage Doctors and Nurses to get into Eye Care Training Programme.
